It's going down to the wire as Manchester City welcome Arsenal

Arsenal's quest for claiming the 2022/23 English Premier League title doesn't get any easier as they travel to the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night for a date with Manchester City.

Heading into the encounter holding a five-point lead at the top, Arsenal will look to redeem themselves and attain the much needed three points after a rather disappointing run in the past three matches collecting only three points from a possible nine.

Despite the recent poor run and City closing in on the gap, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta insists the trip to face Manchester City on Wednesday is not a Premier League title decider but concedes his side now have to be perfect in order to stay top of the table.

Speaking ahead of the match on Tuesday afternoon, Arteta said, "If we win tomorrow night we haven't won the league, that's for sure, it will just shift the percentages a little bit, but with five games left after this, it will still be very tricky."

Arteta also reiterated that a positive mentality plays a huge part in such encounters and one of the biggest factors that will determine whether his team will win or not is the belief his side will showcase on the day.

"We are going to show that again tomorrow night and we also have to deliver in the right moment with the right performance and it has to be perfection because that's what this last level demands absolute perfection all around," Arteta added.

With Manchester City's former employees Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko now in the red and white colours of Arsenal, Arteta believes they will definitely play a huge role in how the outcome of the clash will play out on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, Manchester City head into the encounter on Wednesday night knowing that a victory will edge them closer to dethroning Arsenal on the log standings.

City are unbeaten in 16 games in all competitions since losing to Tottenham in early February, with 13 wins and three draws in that run.

Pep Guardiola's side will look to Algerian superstar Riyad Mahrez to help the side overcome Arsenal as they also are still in the hunt for a league treble after qualifying for the FA Cup final and UEFA Champions League semi-final.

The Algerian will surely get the nod to play against Arsenal and as a result Guardiola will likely name the now-accustomed 3-2-4-1 formation with Erling Haaland leading the attack.

Mahrez’s inclusion could see Bernardo Silva drop out with Ilkay Gundogan providing an extra anchor for Kevin De Bruyne to roam forward in the centre of the park while Jack Grealish has nailed down the left flank slot and looks unmoveable right now.

With a lot still at stake heading into the final few weeks of the English Premier League, Guardiola has also stated that the encounter against Arsenal is not the title decider.

"Tomorrow is really important, not decisive because there are many tough games for both sides and we have more tough games to play but cannot deny how important it is," Guardiola said.

Arsenal will be without centre-back William Saliba due to the injury he sustained in the UEFA Europa League penalty shootout defeat to Sporting Lisbon in March while Granit Xhaka is also still a doubt after missing out on the Southampton clash due to illness.
