Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile has expressed his excitement after joining the elite group of players that have scored 100 club goals since the start of the PSL era in 1996.

Shalulile achieved the feat after scoring a brace in Mamelodi Sundowns' 2-0 victory against CR Belouzidad on Saturday night during the CAF Champions League quarter-final clash.

Shalulile who joined Sundowns in 2020 from Highlands Park joins a very short list that consists of the likes of Siyabonga Nomvethe, Mabhuti Khenyeza, Daniel Mudau, Tico Tico Bucuane, Collins Mbesuma and Bradley Grobler who have also managed to achieve the feat.

The 29 year-old Namibian international has revealed that his aim is to continue scoring more goals in a bid to become the top goalscorer of all time in the league.

"Well firstly I want to to acknowledge my coach[Rhulani Mokwena] for always pushing me to score goals in every game, coach Rhulani always tells me to stay in the box.

The secret for being a good striker is to stay in the box, in the 'kitchen' as we call it so that when the ball comes through I can capitalise on the opportunity and convert," Shalulile said.

Having scored 73 goals so far in the colours of Mamelodi Sundowns, Shalulile believes his could have taken his goal scoring tally to 74 goals against CR Belouzidad on Saturday night.

"I could have scored three goals against Belouzidad, but God decided to give me two, I personally believe I should still work on my finishing because it doesn't stop here, I'll keep on going for more.

This is a huge milestone for me and we give glory to God, my teammates, the coaches and family members, this milestone also serves as a reward and motivation for me to keep on scoring more goals," Shalulile added.

Meanwhile, Mokwena has alluded that he is privileged to be having someone like Shalulile in his team.

"Peter is one of the players that is loved by the team, when he gets to score a goal in a match everyone congratulates him and the celebrations also extend to our club's WhatsApp group chat.

He is a quality player that has a huge work ethic and it's evident in the milestones he gets to reach in his career," Mokwena said.

Shalulile will hope to continue with his fine form and add more goals to his goal scoring tally when Mamelodi Sundowns welcome Richards Bay at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Tuesday night.
