Ahead of the much anticipated Nedbank Cup semi-final tie between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon, Orlando Pirates central defender Nkosinathi Sibisi has revealed that he came to Pirates to win trophies.

In his maiden season at the Buccaneers, Sibisi has already won the 2022/23 MTN 8 title with Pirates and the 27 year old is eyeing another domestic crown with the Sea Robbers in the form of the Nedbank Cup.

Speaking at the Orlando Pirates press conference on Thursday, Sibisi clearly outlined his vision and what he wants to achieve in his Pirates tenure.

"I came to Orlando Pirates to win trophies and also create history for myself, that was one of my biggest objectives when I signed for the Buccaneers and so far so good because I have managed to win the MTN 8 and looking forward to also winning the Nedbank Cup in order to end the season on a high note.

Another objective that I had whilst signing for Pirates was for me to get game time and actually contribute to the success of the team and I am happy with how that has also materialised because I think I have grown as a player and I have also smoothly adapted to how things are done here," Sibisi said.

With Pirates also on the verge of qualifying for the CAF Champions League next season, Sibisi alluded that the focus is also still on attaining the second spot in the DSTV Premiership ahead of SuperSport United.

"The Nedbank Cup will not destruct us from one of our main goal, that is to qualify for continental football next season, yes we might have dropped points against Royal AM during the midweek match however, we will fight until the end," Sibisi added.

The Buccaneers will play Sekhukhune United and AmaZulu in their last two DSTV Premiership matches leading third place SuperSport United by two points.
