Rayners who has rejoined Stellenbosch from SuperSport United in 2023 has been influential in Barker's team scoring 13 goals in all competitions after just 10 appearances.

The 27 year old former Santos player is also the player of the month for February/March after helping Stellenbosch penetrate into the top 8 position in the DSTV Premiership.

With his pace, skill and great vision for goal, Rayners alludes that the current form is nothing new especially at Stellenbosch.

"I have been on a good run of form before, when I was still in the first division with Stellenbosch, I scored 19 goals in 30 league matches," Rayners said.

With Barker praising the striker for his incredible contribution to the team and how he has also matured as a player, Rayners also gave credit to Barker for always guiding him and encouraging him to improve.

Rayners scored a brace in Stellenbosch's 3-0 victory against Swallows FC over the weekend and with four more matches remaining in the league so far, the lethal striker hopes to add more goals to his goal scoring tally.

I think one of the most exciting and contributing factor towards my consistent work rate and performance is I am playing more of a different role here at Stellenbosch and the team knows how to utilise me so I am happy with my form and where the team is on the log standings," Rayners added.

Stellenbosch will next face Golden Arrows at the Danie Craven Stadium on Saturday the 29th of April, kick-off in that encounter is 17:30.
