"I am happy that I am regaining my confidence" - Keagan Dolly

Amakhosi captain Keagan Dolly is one of the players that have rose to the occasion for the Glamour Boys this season in the DSTV Premiership.

The former Ajax Cape Town, Mamelodi Sundowns and Montpellier midfielder joined Kaizer Chiefs in 2021 and has since made 49 appearances for the side from Naturena.

Dolly's ability to play as either a winger or occasionally as an attacking midfielder has seen him become one of the most influential players in the gold and black colours of Kaizer Chiefs this season.

The 30 year old scored Amakhosi's second and decisive goal in the 2-1 victory against Stellenbosch FC that catapulted the side to go level on points with Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United on the log standings.

With Dolly being content at they way he has handled the pressure of being the side's captain, the 2013/14 PSL young player of the year is even more happier that he is regaining his confidence back.

"I think as a striker or as an attacking player you always want to score and create chances for the team so that the team can win, so I am happy I am getting my confidence back in front of goal and hopefully I can keep on scoring and helping the team to get where we want to be," Dolly said.

With Itumeleng Khune not getting the much needed game time in the starting XI for Amakhosi, Arthur Zwane has entrusted Dolly with the club's captaincy role and Dolly has expressed his delight at leading Kaizer Chiefs.

"Well I always say that I want to lead on the field with my work rate and my performances, I don't want to lead by just talking to the youngsters.

"I mean there's a lot of youngsters that's still in the academy, youngsters that really look up to me, so I believe if I can work harder and lead the team well, that can inspire a lot of them to also do well and stay grounded in their play." Dolly added.

While Amakhosi are still in contention for the runners up position in the current DSTV Premiership and also the Nedbank Cup crown, Dolly will look to add more goals to his goalscoring tally so far that has seen him score six goals in all competitions.

Despite the busy schedule the Amakhosi captain has of playing every week for the Soweto giants, Dolly dedicates his good run of form to his family especially when he gets to score a goal.

"Well my recent celebration after scoring against Stellenbosch FC was dedicated to my daughter because I know she is at home watching and hopefully one day she can look back and see that all that I am doing in my football career is for her and my family."

Amakhosi next entertain Marumo Gallants on Saturday night at the FNB Stadium, kick-off is at 20:00.
