"He is one man that can carry Pirates" - Lucky Lekgwathi

Orlando Pirates legend Lucky Lekgwathi has revealed that the 2022/23 DStv Premiership Players' Player of the year Monnapule Saleng has the capabilities to carry the Buccaneers as one man.
Lekgwathi who wore the number 14 jersey during his playing time in the black and white colours of Orlando Pirates has dubbed Saleng as the fittest player who is humble and takes advice well.
"Saleng can carry Pirates, I first met him in Polokwane and we took a picture together and spoke about a lot of things, but most importantly I explained to him what it means to wear that jersey number 14 and I also told him the history of that number and that there are people who have worn it before and didn’t represent it properly.
I asked him what he is busy with as it was off-season that time and he told me he was doing some extra training, I further advised him to keep doing that so he can stay ahead of other players and when the season started he can be lethal and uncontrollable," Lekgwathi said.
Saleng who ended the 2022/23 campaign with 15 goals in 30 games in all competitions, along with 11 assists in the process, also won the MTN 8 Last Man Standing accolade during the 2022/23 PSL Awards.
With the North West born having also helped the Buccaneers to secure the 2023/24 CAF Champions Legaue spot by finishing second on the log, Lekgwathi believes the 25-year-old will certainly go and play overseas.
"He has the qualities to go and play overseas and moreover flourish there, he is a very disciplined player and he also has a teachable spirit," Lekgwathi added.
