"He is motivated and passionate about the club" - Kermit Erasmus

Orlando Pirates striker Kermit Erasmus has shed some light on why he considers head coach Jose Riveiro as one of his best coach in the DStv Premiership.

This comes after Riveiro guided Pirates to their third domestic trophy since taking over at the start of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season.

Pirates defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 3-1 on penalties at Moses Mabhida on Saturday evening to defend the MTN8 title that they won last season against AmaZulu at the same venue.

With the Sea Robbers also winning the Nedbank Cup last season at the hands of Sekhukhune United at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, Erasmus believes Riveiro has seemingly mastered the art of winning trophies and for that he also believes the Spaniard is yet to win more trophies with the Buccaneers.

"What I can say about the coach is that he has a lot of patience, he is very motivated and passionate about this club and I think in the ways that he is trying to coach us, suits us as South African players because he is always open to opinions of what we think as players.

He also tries to understand different players and how they behave in certain situations, what drives them or what lets their head down if he is shouting too much," Erasmus said.

Erasmus who won his third consecutive MTN8 title on Saturday night also alluded that the unity of the team has been really good and that is why it is easy for Riveiro to coach the team and succeed.

Pirates will now use the on-going international break to rest and prepare for their next match against AmaZulu scheduled to play at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on the 24th of October 2023.
