Returning back to Orlando Pirates from Mamelodi Sundowns during the current season, Erasmus has worked closely with Riveiro especially with the striker being one of the crucial senior players in the team.

Erasmus who is also well known for his ability to read and analyse the game while also taking instructions from the coach has alluded that Riveiro is just as clinical in his tactics.

He is a great human being and a good coach that is willing to learn how to better understand South African football culture and racial dynamics so it has certainly been a wonderful experience to play under him and understand the identity he wants us to play in," Erasmus said.

Under Riveiro, Pirates have managed to win the MTN 8 title, progress to the Nedbank Cup final and also stay in contention for the CAF Champions League spot.

In the midst of all the great achievements Pirates have managed to accomplish under the Spaniard, Erasmus furthermore states that Riveiro has also been very patient with the team particularly because majority of the players have not really grasped the tactical approach to the tee. 

“So he has really been great and his work speaks for itself," Erasmus added.

Riveiro has also won the PSL coach of the month accolade for the month of April during the recent DStv Premiership monthly awards ceremony.

With the league about to wrap up, the 47 year is also a very strong contender for the coach of the season award.
