Forging a new rulebook for leadership: 2023 FORBES WOMAN AFRICA Leading Women Summit

The FORBES WOMAN AFRICA Leading Women Summit, themed "Women 3.0: The Icons and Ideas Shaping Africa," will mark the summit's reincarnation as a hybrid event bringing power to life on stage and igniting an all-new discourse with technology at its heart. 

Attendees can expect inspiring conversations and influential speakers, including Thamani Thothe, Patricia Obozuwa, Tumi Morake, Nolitha Fakude, Thami Banda, Elke Brink, and Palesa Mokubung.


The FORBES WOMAN AFRICA Leading Women Summit is set to take place on March 8, 2023, at the Sun Bet Arena in Time Square, Pretoria, South Africa. This one-day event brings together influential female leaders from various sectors, including business, politics, art, sports, and civil society, to share their stories and ideas towards building a new, equal, and thriving world.


The 2023 summit, the eighth installment of the event, is themed "Women 3.0: The Icons And Ideas Shaping Africa." It will celebrate African ingenuity and the power of the female collective while exploring new strategies that will cement the continent's future on the world stage. 

With technology at its heart, the event will ignite an all-new discourse on critical issues at a time of radical change.


After two years of being held virtually due to the pandemic, the event is set to make a comeback as a hybrid event, connecting the dots, the doers, and their doings. The summit will feature inspiring conversations and influential attendees, including the following featured speakers:

Thamani Thothe

Thamani Thothe is the Founder and Creative Director of White Label Fragrances. She is an experienced fragrance specialist and perfumer with over a decade of experience in the industry. Thothe's work has been recognized by numerous awards, including the prestigious Marie Claire Prix d'Excellence de la Beauté.

Patricia Obozuwa

Patricia Obozuwa is the Vice President of Public Affairs, Communications & Sustainability, Africa, for the Coca-Cola Company. She is responsible for overseeing the company's operations and corporate social responsibility initiatives in 54 African countries. Obozuwa has over 20 years of experience in public affairs, communications, and sustainability.

Tumi Morake

Tumi Morake is an award-winning comedian, actor, writer, and producer. She is one of South Africa's most celebrated comedians, having won numerous awards for her work. Morake has also made a name for herself as an actress, appearing in various TV shows and films.

Nolitha Fakude

Nolitha Fakude is the Chairman of Anglo American's Management Board in South Africa. She is a respected business leader with over 30 years of experience in the industry. Fakude is a non-executive director of several companies, including Investec, Tsogo Sun Gaming, and Vodacom Group.

Thami Banda

Thami Banda is the Brand Ambassador for Africa for The Macallan, a renowned Scottish whisky brand. He is responsible for driving the brand's growth and expansion across the African continent. Banda has over a decade of experience in the liquor industry and has worked for several leading brands.

Elke Brink

Elke Brink is the Director of Wealth Advisor at PSG Wealth and a Moneyweb advisor. She is a respected financial expert with over 20 years of experience in the industry. Brink is a regular commentator on financial matters and has been featured in numerous publications and media outlets.

Palesa Mokubung

Palesa Mokubung is the Founder and Creative Director of Mantsho, a fashion label that celebrates African aesthetics and culture. She is a celebrated fashion designer, having won numerous awards for her work. Mokubung's designs have been featured in various publications, including Vogue Italia and Elle.


The past speakers of the FORBES WOMAN AFRICA Leading Women Summit have included trailblazers such as Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Town Prof Mamokgethi Phakeng, and Dr Naledi Pandor South African politician, educator and academic serving as the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation. 


The 2023 FORBES WOMAN AFRICA Leading Women Summit is set to be a powerful gathering of influential female leaders from across the continent and beyond, bringing together trailblazers from the world of business, politics, art, sports, civil society, and life.
