Farouk Khan insists you can't ask for patience at a club like Chiefs

Former Kaizer Chiefs youth coach Farouk Khan has weighed in on the current situation Kaizer Chiefs is in and insists that the pressure from the fans on Arthur Zwane will continue unless results start to change.

Chiefs are currently occupying the fourth spot in the DStv Premiership after 29 matches with 44 points from 13 wins, 5 draws and a disappointing 11 defeats.

Moreover, the Glamour Boys will finish another PSL season without a trophy after going down 2-1 to Orlando Pirates in the semi-final of the Nedbank Cup a fortnight ago.

With Chiefs also missing out on a CAF Champions League and CAF Confederations Cup spot, Zwane and co. have felt the wrath of the Amakhosi faithful in their recent loss to SuperSport United last weekend and Khan insists that will continue until the positive results start to come in.

"Both the coach and players have come in for hard criticism from the supporters over the recent poor run of poor performances that has produced three defeats in the last five matches.

The reality is Kaizer Chiefs is a big club with a strong culture of winning so you can't ask for patience at a club like Chiefs, that pressure from the supporters is not going to go away until things change," Khan said.

Khan who personally knows the wrath and criticism from the fans after being with the club in the 2000's, stated that all that's needed especially for the players to overcome the pressure is to be mentally strong.

"The criticism from the fans especially when the results are not coming in will always be there, it was there years ago and at that time we were fortunate to have mentally strong players.

Going through the phase the club is in now, mentally takes a toll, but supporters expect the players to be ready when they make that step and I also believe people like Doctor Khumalo were so important in that regard, just being there from time to time to remind the boys what it meant to wear the badge," Khan added.

In a season that has been described as "a season we would like to forget very fast"  by Zwane, Amakhosi will look to end it on a high note when they welcome Cape Town City at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon, kick-off in that encounter is 15:00 o'clock.
