The news were confirmed by McKaiser's manager Jackie Strydom on Tuesday afternoon alluding that McKaiser was in Johannesburg when he died.

The 45-year-old's death was met with shock by politicians and other high-profile figures voicing their condolences and sadness.

For one, President Cyril Ramaphosa's spokesperson, Vincent Magwenya, said the late broadcaster was a brilliant mind.

"I followed his work and I enjoyed his shows and interviews when he was at 702, he brought his own signature style to radio and condolences to his family, friends and colleagues, may his soul rest in peace," Magwenya wrote on Twitter.

McKaiser was born in Eastern Cape, Grahamston to be precise on the 28th of March 1978.

He was a radio presenter that hosted talk shows on Radio 702, the Talk at Nine Show and Power FM while also he presenting Interface on SABC3.

McKaiser also was a writer for New York Times, Business Day, Mail & Guardian, Sunday Times, Sunday Independent, City Press, Newsweek International, BBC Focus on Africa, The New Republic, Financial Mail and Destiny Man.

The seasoned radio presenter also obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Philosophy as well as a Masters in Philosophy from Rhodes University.
