Kaizer Chiefs forward Ashley Du Preez is anticipating to return back to action for pre-season after he suffered a terrible ankle injury on the last day of the DStv Premiership season against Cape Town City on the 21st of May 2023.

Du Preez was stretched off the pitch after being on the wrong end of a lunge from Cape Town City's Taariq Fielies in the first half of the encounter, giving the referee no other option but to give Fielies a red card.

Despite Du Preez being rushed to the hospital for x-rays, the extent of the injury is better than initially feared and, while the player remains on a moon boot, no breaks, or fractures were discovered.

While the football season has temporarily closed, Du Preez will use this time to nurse his injury and make sure that he fully recovers to make it through pre-season with the rest of his teammates.

In his maiden season at Chiefs, Du Preez managed to score nine goals and provide five assists in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Amakhosi are also expected to be joined by Mduduzi Mdantsane, Given Msimango and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe during their pre-season training after having acquired their services from Cape Town, TS Galaxy and SuperSport United respectively.

The Glamour Boys are also still in the hunt for a new goalkeeper, a left-back, a central midfielder, and a striker for the upcoming season after having another disappointing season finishing 5th on the log with 44 points after 30 matches.
