Deputy President to reply to questions in the National Assembly

Deputy President, Mr David Mabuza, will be in the National Assembly today, at 14h00, for oral replies to questions by Members of Parliament.
According to the Rules of the National Assembly, Questions to Deputy President for oral reply must be scheduled quarterly during session time and must be limited to six questions and 4 supplementary questions to each question- limited to a total time of three hours.
Questions to the Deputy President must be submitted to the Speaker of the National Assembly at least 16 calendar days before the question day on which they are to be answered – for the Speaker’s approval as complying with the rules and guidelines of the Rules Committee of the Assembly.
The Constitution stipulates that Cabinet Members are accountable collectively and individually to Parliament for the exercise of powers and performance of their functions. Parliament uses a range of instruments to hold the Executive accountable, which include putting questions to the Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa.
