Chelsea will look to overturn the 1st leg loss at Stamford Bridge

Fresh from the 1-0 victory against Leeds United in the English Premier League over the weekend, Chelsea FC will look to take that momentum to their UEFA Champions League 2nd leg clash against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night at Stamford Bridge.

The London side head into the encounter on Tuesday looking to overturn a 1-0 first leg loss at the Signal Iduna Park a fortnight ago, a goal that was scored by Karim Adeyemi in the 63rd minute.

With the chances of the Blues finishing in the top four in the English Premier League all but gone, Chelsea head coach Graham Potter now has the chance to set about changing some of the fan opinion on him with progression to the next round of European competition.

Potter will however, have to achieve that without the services of Thiago Silva who is out due to injury, with a back-three starting strategy on Potter's cards for the much anticipated last 16 encounter, Potter has admitted that the back-three made Chelsea look more assured.

On a much more positive note Chelsea will also welcome Reece James, Christian Pulisic and N'Golo Kante back for the visit of Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night.

James as well as Pulisic and Kante took part in the training session at the club's Cobham-base on Monday.

James' return to the squad will be a major boost whilst also offering Potter more flexibility with his system of playing three at the back.

Upon the much anticipated clash, Potter said "James has been unavailable for a long time so we had to find different solutions but clearly they haven't been effective so we are happy to have him back."

The Chelsea boss also hinted that Raheem Sterling could start the game after revealing that his substitution against Leeds over the weekend was to keep him fresh for Tuesday night's huge Champions League clash.

Speaking on Sterling ahead of the second leg at Stamford Bridge Potter added, "You can see  that he is a quality player that brings a lot of experience in the squad and if he is enjoying his game then he can be deadly and score goals for us."

Kick-off at Stamford Bridge is at 22:00.
