Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rhulani Mokwena has revealed that Cassuis Mailula's injury is not that serious and the attacking midfielder will be back soon.

Mailula missed Sundowns' DStv Premiership encounter over the past weekend against Marumo Gallants as the Brazilians continued with their winning streak coming out 2-0 victorious in that encounter.

With Mailula been ruled out of that encounter, concerns were raised over the hamstring injury the 21-year Bafana Bafana international has suffered.

Amid the fear and speculations around Mailula's return to action, Mokwena has broken the silence reiterating that the youngster will be back sooner than expected.

"Cassius will be back soon as the injury is not as big as we thought it was, we hope that his return will be just in time before we head to the CAF Champions League semi-final tie with Wydad Casablanca," Mokwena said.

With Mailula playing an instrumental role in Sundowns' success this season, the Sundowns DStv Diski Challenge graduate is also a highly regarded contender for the nomination of the PSL footballer of the season and the Young player of the season accolades.

In his 29 appearances across all competitions, Mailula has scored 15 goals so far this season to contribute to Sundowns' mammoth 96 goals that they have managed to score in all competitions this season.

Sundowns will now turn their attention back to continental football as they take on Wydad Casablanca in the first leg of the CAF Champions League on Saturday the 13th of May at the Stade Mohammed V Stadium in Morocco.

The return leg will be held on the 20th of May at Loftus Versfeld with the winner, after the both legs, advancing to the final to meet either Al Ahly or ES Tunis.
