Building a thriving community through sustainability and eco-friendliness: The Makers Valley approach
By Lindelwa Masuku
We explore how the Makers Valley Partnership promotes sustainability and eco-friendliness in its activities and initiatives. From the MVID (Makers Valley Improvement District) to the urban rangers, MVP has been hard at work keeping the streets of the Valley clean and fostering a conversation around the health of the environment directly with the community.
Makers Valley Partnership (MVP) is a non-profit organisation that supports the Making and Changemaking activities in the Valley. The organisation is committed to promoting sustainable social and creative enterprises, a clean, green, and safe environment, and greater social cohesion.
MVP has partnerships with relevant business and government entities, such as Victoria Yards, Nando’s, the City of Johannesburg, the Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA), and the Johannesburg Inner City Partnership (JICP). MVP supports and promotes various types of creative entrepreneurship in the Valley, including LOCK, Swyft Lab, and Safe Study.
