Banyana put in the final preparations ahead of Uzbekistan test

Banyana Banyana have been preparing themselves for their Saturday's clash against Uzbekistan in the Turkish Women's Cup at the Emirhan Sport Complex in Antalya, Turkey.

Having arrived in Turkey amid the earthquake tragedy Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis has mentioned Antalya is completely unaffected by the earthquake and the people in Turkey have been very welcoming since their arrival.

Banyana Banyana have played Brazil and Australia before and Ellis is hoping that the side will implement some of the lessons learned from those two encounters against Brazil and Australia respectively into the tournament.

Ellis also emphasised on how important the Turkish Women's Cup is particularly in preparing Banyana for the 2023 Women's World Cup.

"There are only two FIFA dates and this is one of them, If you only play in April then that’s not enough ahead of the World Cup and your preparations are pretty much down the drain," said Ellis.

Banyana Banyana also received the major boost of star player Jermaine Seoposenwe who joined the team on Thursday from Mexico while Refiloe Jane, Linda Motlhalo, Noko Matlou, Noxolo Cesane and Hildah Magaia joined the team a bit earlier after traveling from different parts of the world.

After the Uzbekistan encounter, Banyana will tackle Slovenia in the second Turkish Women's Cup on the 21st of February at the Emirhan Sport Complex.
