Banyana Banyana too strong for Uzbekistan

A dominant first half display by Banyana Banyana was the difference as the South African women's side thumped Uzbekistan 3-0 in their opening match of the Turkish Women's Cup on Saturday night.

Goals by Jermaine Seoposenwe, Noxolo Cesane and an own goal by Shokida Tojiddinova were enough for Banyana to register their first victory and sit on top in group A of the tournament.

Seoposenwe broke the deadlock as early as the 10th minute in the first half before three minutes later Uzbekistan's Tojiddinova put the ball at the back of her own net to give Banyana the 2-0 lead.

It took Banyana Banyana less than 15 minutes to add the third goal as Cesane rounded off a brilliant performance for the African champions as the teams went into halftime with Banyana Banyana leading 3-0.

In a match that was played at the Emirhan Sport Complex in Antalya; Turkey, Banyana came into the second half still keeping Uzbekistan at bay to open their Turkish Women’s Cup account on a winning note.

They will next face Slovenia on Tuesday the 21st of February at the same venue.
