Following their 2-1 victory over Liberia away from home on Tuesday in Monrovia Bafana Bafana have qualified for the Ivory Coast 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The victory meant that Hugo Broos' charges have now joined Morocco, host nation Ivory Coast, Algeria and Senegal for the finals of the AFCON with 19 countries yet to qualify for the showpiece.

With the South African nation expressing their joy and excitement for Bafana Bafana after achieving that feat, Orlando Pirates legend Tebogo Moloi has also joined in the celebrations stating that Bafana's victory has put back South Africa's footprint in Africa.

A jubilant Moloi has also described the victory as an extremely big and important achievement for the nation.

"Yes it's an extremely big accomplishment because it shows that the team was determined to go back and compete in Africa after a long time so I am glad they managed to qualify and now the preparations have began en route Ivory Coast," Moloi said.

With majority of the Bafana squad in the recent AFCON qualifiers coming from Mamelodi Sundowns, Moloi reflected back to 1996 when the 1995 Orlando Pirates winning CAF Champions League team helped Bafana to claim the AFCON.

"If we can go back and remember the 1995 Pirates CAF winning team, the players that went to play for Bafana Bafana in the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations helped the rest of the players to understand what it means to play in Africa and at the highest level of football and that influence actually helped Bafana to claim the crown in the 1996 AFCON.

"The reason I am stating that is because it was important for the Mamelodi Sundowns players who have been doing very well in the CAF Champions League and domestically too, to influence Bafana in making sure the rest of the squad understood what it means to play at the highest level and one actually saw that over these two qualifiers especially in the 2-1 victory on Tuesday," said Moloi.

It is a known fact that Broos is a strong advocate for youngsters hence the likes of Cassius Mailula, Monnapule Saleng, Lyle Foster and Mihlali Mayambela all featured in the two matches and Moloi believes the exposure will help groom and inspire them to continue playing at the highest level.

"Although you could see with Mailula and Saleng that the transformation from playing in the CAF Champions League to international football took a bit of a toll on them but it was important for them to experience that because these are the two players that I have seen they learn fast and quickly adapt to situations easily.

"It was also very crucial and important for our youngsters to be exposed to that such of a high intensity match so they prepare themselves correctly for the main event next year in Ivory Coast," Moloi added.

The Pirates legend was equally impressed with how Mayambela also rose to the occasion and going on to find the back of net for Broos' men.

"I liked the way Mayambela also came out with flying colours, it shows that he is indeed playing at the highest level of football in Europe and that means the other rising stars can learn from him."

With exposure and development being at the center of Moloi's heart, the former Gaziantepspor player was glad to see Broos give the youngsters a chance to learn and experience continental football and he believes that is one of the reasons Bafana managed to qualify because the team showed the hunger to advance to the AFCON finals.

Bafana will now face Morocco at home in the last group K spot in June in what will be considered as a battle that will determine who reigns supreme in the group heading to the finals next year.
