Bafana Bafana have started with their preparations ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Liberia on Friday the 24th of March and Tuesday the 28th of March respectively.

With the last bunch of overseas based players arriving in South Africa on Monday to join the rest of the team at the camp, Bafana coach Hugo Broos has conceded that St. Louis City SC midfielder Njabulo Blom will not be part of the national team for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Liberia.

Blom is unable to travel due to a medical report St. Louis City has issued stating Blom is not in a good condition to travel, the absence of Blom has seen Orlando Pirates midfielder Miguel Timm joining the squad in what has been considered as a commendable swap.

Meanwhile Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams believes the squad has enough depth in front of goal to get the much needed goals in the two encounters against Liberia.

Bafana’s woes in front of goal have been well documented, but at the moment they have several strikers in good form.

Mamelodi Sundowns' Cassius Mailula has been outstanding for the Brazilians this season scoring 8 goals in the DSTV Premiership while also playing a pivotal role in Sundowns' attacking force.

The 21 year old will look to continue with his incredible form in the colours of Bafana alongside Lyle Foster, Percy Tau and Bongokuhle Hlongwane.

Williams who believes if the backline can keep a clean sheet and help the attacking force, Bafana will be able to get the desired result.

"Once we do our job at the back and keep a clean sheet I am sure they will also get the job done infront, all of them are currently scoring goals in their respective clubs, even Zakhele Lepasa is also scoring now and that serves as a confidence booster for him and the team at large," Williams said.

The Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper also expressed his desire to help Bafana go all the way to reach the Afcon finals in a bid to raise the spirits of a nation clearly going through a lot at the moment.

"We know how important sport is to society and people are looking up to us, there are so many negative things happening in our country now, so the little we can do is important, the boys just need to know that they are not doing this for themselves but rather for the country," Williams added.
