Orlando Pirates football star Thembinkosi Lorch briefly appeared at the Randburgs Magistrates Court on Tuesday for allegedly assaulting his girl friend in 2020. The Buccaneers player was then arrested in September 2020. 

The police are said to be continuing with investigating the case following its provisional withdrawal. 

According to Eye Witness News the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA)’s Phindi Mjonondwane said: “This is after consideration of representations submitted by Lorch to the senior public prosecutor of Randburg. 

The senior public prosecutor instructed the senior investigating officer to conduct further investigations and the NPA will be guided by those further investigations on whether to proceed with prosecutions.”
