"Arthur Zwane has really been supportive" - Siyabonga Ngezana

Despite having rather a bad start to the season in the gold and black colours of Kaizer Chiefs, Siyabonga Ngezana has stated that coach Arthur Zwane has really been helpful with keeping him grounded.

Ngezana who is Amakhosi's academy graduate made his senior team debut in 2017 against Mamelodi Sundowns going all the way to also score his debut goal in the process.

The 25 year old who hails from the Vaal in Sebokeng has praised Zwane for his consistent words of encouragement and wisdom in his career especially during his difficult moments at the beginning of the season.

"What I like about coach Arthur is he is always consistent with making sure that I am encouraged and full of confidence, he always tells me that football is a game of mistakes and I am bound to make mistakes because that is the only way I will grow," Ngezana said.

The 25 year old has also been under a lot of criticism from the Chiefs faithful due to high-profile errors he has committed but Zwane keeps on standing by him.

"One of the ways I overcome the negative criticism is through listening to the coach and getting positive inspiration from him, I also have to commend my teammates who have been very supportive too during these tough times,"

With Zwane's inspiration and motivation towards Ngezana being the catalyst the 25 year old needed to rejuvenate his career, Ngezana has been doing quite well in the past 4 matches he has been in the starting XI.

The 25 year old has shown some versatility playing either at the right back position or as a center back, his form has also earned him a man of the match performance against Maritzburg United in the Nedbank Cup last 32 on the 10th of February.

Ngezana's inclusion in Chiefs' Soweto Derby triumph against Orlando Pirates last weekend was also a sign of how much Zwane really remains resolute on the fact that he is one of Amakhosi's key players.

With the Glamour Boys still in the hunt for a silverware, Ngezana believes the drought might just end with the on-going Nedbank Cup where Chiefs have a date in the last 16 with Casric Stars on the 12th of March.

"I obviously see myself winning trophies at Chiefs because Chiefs is known for winning trophies and maintaining that winning culture, so I want to win trophies here and I think we really have a good chance of ending the trophy drought by clinching the Nedbank Cup,"

Ngezana will hope to maintain his starting XI position when Amakhosi travel to the King Zwelithini Stadium for a date with Richards Bay on Saturday the 4th of March.
