Amakhosi are oozing with confidence ahead of Gallants test

Kaizer Chiefs will continue their quest for a top 2 finish in the DSTV Premiership when they welcome bottom of the table Marumo Gallants at the FNB Stadium on Saturday night.

Having won five consecutive matches in all competitions so far, Amakhosi are oozing with confidence as they are strongly tipped to extend their winning run to six matches.

The teams shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw when they met at Royal Bafokeng stadium back in September last year and this time around, Amakhosi will want to capitalise on their rich vein of form to bag all three points in front of their passionate home support.

Striker Ashley Du Preez who scored in Chiefs' latest victory against Stellenbosch FC over the past weekend is optimistic the Glamour Boys will continue where they left off on Saturday.

"We have been preparing very well for the game and I am personally looking forward to it and perhaps being on the scoresheet again, we obviously want to continue winning because it is our aim every time we step onto the field and from an individual perspective I want to score goals that will help the team win," Du Preez said.

With Chiefs being fourth on the table but level on points with second and third place Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United, Du Preez believes Amakhosi can still leapfrog the two sides and finish the season as runners up.

"Well the aim is to finish as runners up to book that continental spot for next year and I think the remaining few matches will be crucial for us to get the desired result.

"We just want to maintain the consistency and finish strong, also being in the Nedbank Cup serves as a major boost for us to continue with the good run of form so we will fight until the very end."

Despite Gallants being rock bottom on the log standings, Du Preez doesn't believe that has any significance ahead of the encounter on Saturday.

"Nothing can be read into a team's league position ahead of a match so we don't look at where our opponents lie on the log, we take it as a match we have to play and focus on how we are going to win on the day," the 25 year old added.

Kick-off at the FNB Stadium on Saturday night is at 20:00.
