A wounded Liverpool looks to recover in the Merseyside Derby

If there is ever a time for Liverpool to thrash Everton in the Merseyside Derby, it is now ! having won only one match in seven games in all competitions, Liverpool desperately need the 3 points against Everton at the Anfield Stadium.

Liverpool who have been title contenders in the past 3 seasons under Jurgen Kloop are currently languishing on the 10th spot having won only 8 matches out of 20 and losing 7 in the process.

At the beginning of the season Liverpool saw themselves start the 2022/23 English Premier League campaign without the services of Senegal's captain Sadio Mane after the forward signed for Bayern Munich.

A move that has really impacted Liverpool negatively as Jurgen Kloop had to adjust a few technical changes to accommodate the omission of Mane.

Not only was the Mane effect playing against Liverpool however the injury setback of Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz who have also played very important roles in the attacking force of Liverpool, dismantled Klopp's plans.

Coming from a 3-0 defeat at the Molineux Stadium against Wolves on the 4th of February, Liverpool's UEFA Champions League's hopes hang by the thread as they are 12 points adrift of the 4th spot.

Everton's trip to the Kop on Monday night will be the 32nd clash between the two sides with Liverpool winning 15 of those matches while Everton has only managed to pick up 3 wins with 13 ending in a draw.

On the contrast Everton head into the derby after a hard fought 1-0 victory against Arsenal on the 4th of February.

After sacking Frank Lampard and bringing in Sean Dyche Everton will hope that Dyche who has already started with a victory will help save Everton from relegation as they are currently occupying the 18th spot.

With both sides needing the all important 3 points the Merseyside for the first time might be a well contested match unlike the past encounters where Liverpool was the only team dominating.

Kick-off at the Anfield is at 22:00 on Monday night.
