Former Orlando Pirates and Monaco striker Lyle Brent Foster has signed for EFL Championship club Burnley FC for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old striker has penned a four-and-a-half-year deal at Turf Moor and becomes the Clarets’ third signing of the January transfer window.

Foster, born in Soweto and starting his football career at the Orlando Pirates academy was named among English newspaper The Guardian's top 60 most promising young players in the world in 2017.

Signed from Belgian side K.V.C. Westerlo, Foster has mentioned that he is very happy to be at Turf Moor and he just wants to get started.

"From the moment I heard that there was interest from Burnley, my heart and my head were set on the club. I am blessed and thankful for the opportunity, it is a dream for me," Foster said.

The Bafana Bafana International will be coached by Vincent Kompany, the former Manchester City captain who won the league title with the citizens on four occasions(2011/12; 2013/13; 2017/18; 2018/19)

Burnley are currently occupying the first spot on the League Championship table with 62 points after 28 games, they next face Ipswich Town in the in the 4th round of the FA Cup on Saturday the 28th of January 2023.
