Sundowns extend their lead after Derby success

Neo Maema's 43rd minute strike was the difference as champions Mamelodi Sundowns edged SuperSport United at Loftus Versfeld on Monday night.

In a match where SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt believed his side were the better team, Maema made sure he converted with ease after teammate Cassius Mailula managed to win the ball in the 18 yard box.

Hunt was full of praises with how his players approached the match and fought against undoubtably the best team in the league so far.

"We came here with a real patched up team, alot of players out ... 7 players out from the starting XI but I really have to commend the players, we kept going we kept going but if you don't convert your chances you get punished" Hunt said.

Man of the match Thapelo Maseko was also another prospect Hunt mentioned in his post match interview, "Thapelo should have scored in the first 5 minutes but it was to be ... but I have to give to him and that is what we have here, a bunch of good players"

With Kaizer Chiefs next, Sundowns will travel to the FNB Stadium on Saturday night knowing that a victory will set them on course for having one hand already on the title while SuperSport will go back to the drawing board as they prepare to host Richards Bay on Sunday.
