I am pleased to announce that Cllr Franco De Lange has been appointed as the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Health and Social Development, having previously served in the portfolio when the Multi-Party Government first came into Office. 

 

MMC De Lange served as the MMC for Health and Social Development from December 2021 to February 2022, but voluntarily vacated the post in order to accommodate a previous coalition partner. He subsequently served as the Section 79 Committee Chairperson for Economic Development. 

 

Our work of repairing and rebuilding Joburg requires the ongoing and coordinated efforts of all MMCs, working with City and Entity Officials. I am therefore confident that the men and women of the Mayoral Committee will continue working with, in and for communities by communicating the work being done by the Multi-Party Government; and accounting for work not done. 

I would like to thank the MMC for Community Development, Cllr Ronald Harris, who acted in the portfolio when the Multi-Party Government was reinstated following the High Court judgment of 25 October 2022.
