Joburg Mayor Mpho Phalatse leads tribute for fallen Kwaito legend ‘Magesh’

The Johannesburg Multi-Party Government has learned with great sadness and sorrow that Kwaito legend, SA Music Awards recipient and member of the iconic group TKZee, Tokollo “Magesh” Tshabalala passed away on Monday morning at the age of 45. 

In a statement she said “Tshabalala was one of the South Africa’s most the exceptional artists of his generation and will be remembered as one of music and kwaito’s most renowned artists, with unique rapping skills. He was a key force in shaping the landscape of the South African music industry”.

 “Magesh” will be remembered for his contribution to among other smash hits such as We Love This Place, Phalafala and the chart-topper, Shibobo, dedicated to the 1998 Fifa World Cup” said Phalatse. 

“On behalf of the Joburg residents and the Joburg Multi-Party Government, I wish to convey my heartfelt and deepest sympathy to the Tshabalala family, friends, supporters, and entire entertainment industry” concluded the statement 

May his soul rest in eternal peace and may his music live forever.
