Boris Johnson to resign as UK prime minister

Boris Johnson has finally accepted his days are numbered at Number 10
Downing street after defiantly refusing to step down in the last couple of days, after more than 50 MPs of his government resigned.
‘The prime minister will make a statement to the country today,’ said a Number 10 spokesperson.
