Following allegations of physical abuse and violent acts made by Mohale Motuang against his estranged husband, a popular media personality Somizi Mhlongo, Satellite television services Multichoice together with popular singing competition Idols SA has decided that Mohlongo should take some time off from the show.

MultiChoice has also highlighted that because the current season's episodes of Idols SA have been pre-recorded, viewers will still see Mhlongo until the 22nd of August. However, the media personality will not feature in the 17th episode of the competition.

In an allegedly leaked audio interview which was obtained by Sunday World, Motaung is heard citing emotional as well as physically abusive experiences that he endured during when he was with Mhlongo. The two got married in a lavish traditional wedding in 2019, followed by another luxurious white wedding which was the talk of the town in 2020. Months after the two got married rumours of them having troubles in their marriage escalated.

following a brief moment of silence the media personality Mhlongo released a statement on social media, stating that they have had their ups and downs in their relationship. However, he has never physically or emotionally abused Motaung and has denied all allegations of criminal acts against him.
