Kaizer Chiefs to wait a little longer for that star

By Phumzile Mavimbela

Kaizer Chiefs fell short of their dream of becoming the third South African team to be the champions of Africa. The team from Soweto saw the CAF Champions League disappear from their grasp with three unanswered second half goals from the men from Egypt. The final which was played at Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca, Morocco, on Saturday night saw the Egyptians, Al Ahly, become the first team to become champions of Africa for the tenth time..

Although it was Al Ahly's tenth title, this was the first final appearance for the glamour boys. Kaizer Chiefs were forced to play half the match with only 10 men after Happy Mashiane received a red card at the end of the first half.

This title win also saw the South African born coach, Pitso Mosimane, win his third CAF Champions league, having done so previously with Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly. It seems that the men from Soweto will just have to wait another year before they can get their hands on that star.
