Protests around Midrand have caused heavy traffic delays in the morning, Allandale road still remains closed. Residents from Klipfontein informal settlements have raised their concerns regarding poor service delivery. The residents have barricaded roads with burning tyres as well as stones. 

Speaking to EWN JMPD spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said: “There is currently burning tyres on the road surface and it is not advisable for motorists to drive on.” 

According to  Swisher at this time, no organisation or community leadership has come forth to claim responsibility for the protest action. We believe law enforcement authorities have been deployed to oversee the protest action and attempt to clear the rubble as soon as possible.
