The former Minister of Finance Melusi Gigaba's wife Norma Mngoma appeared at the Pretoria Magistrates Court on Friday morning facing charges of malicious damage to property. Mngoma was arrested last year July in Pretoria after she allegedly damaged a car belonging to Gigaba's friend and was later released on a bail of R5000. 

Many who were anticipating hearing the court's ruling were left disappointed when the court postponed the case to the 26th of March. According to Eye Witness news Mngoma's defense team Advocate, Dali Mpofu said that the ruling vindicated his client: “Particularly because the judgment speaks for itself and that it will not be difficult to take the decision to withdraw the charges.”
He also added that the arrest of his client appeared to have been through an abuse of power.

“Why were the Hawks of the Mpumalanga division involved when the matter was not a high-level technical investigation?” said Mpofu
