Celebrity Insight : Nomzamo Mbatha

Nomzamo Mbatha is an actress, MC, Presenter and philanthropist who hails from the streets of kwaMashu in the KwaZulu-Natal province. Mbatha’s smile and infectious laugh has warmed the hearts of many South Africans. Not only is she purely beautiful but smart as well. Nomzamo graduated with a Degree in Commerce from the University of Cape Town in 2018. She is the face of Neutrogena, Puma and AudiSA. 

Mbatha can be best remembered by her local following, for her exceptional acting skills in her main character role in Mzansi Magic telenovela,  Isibaya. Most fans took to social media to express their shock and hurt when she left the show. In 2015 this phenomenal talent starred in  Tell Me Sweet Something a South African romantic comedy film which also starred Maps Maponyane and Thishiwe Ziqubu.



She also hosted a SABC travel reality show called Travel Swap. Not only has the star showcased unwavering talent on South Africa screens. However she has  also joined a handful of actresses such as Thuso Mbedu and Terry Phetho who have waved the  South African flag high in American Screens. Mbatha featured in an American production called ‘Coming to America’.

Not only is Mbatha an exception actress she is also a great philanthropist who works closely with the United Nations, In 2018, she spent time touring Kenyan refugee camps, in her role as   United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees  UNHCR Ambassador. 

In 2017 Mbatha founded a Non Profit Organisation Light House Foundation which is based on an ever growing need to support marginalized youth, child-headed homes and senior citizens. The foundation has collaborated with the public sectors, private sectors and civil society through its education, youth empowerment and socio-economic focused initiatives. The foundation seeks to assist Male and female youth from underprivileged backgrounds, between the ages of 18-35.
