The Presidency has announced that President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to address the nation at 8pm on Thursday regarding the country’s response to the coronavirus pandemic. This follows a special sitting of Cabinet that considered recommendations of the National Coronavirus Command Council (NCCC) meeting.

This rise in infections has spiked up in the Eastern and Western Cape where authorities are calling for stricter adherence to – and enforcement of – safety protocols such as the wearing of masks and the possibility of an earlier curfew. There are also rising concerns around how the festive holiday season will impact on the spread of the pandemic.
