Soweto is filled with much historical background as such the 5km walk was inclusive of stunning views of the museums and restaurants as participants  walked through Vilakazi Street to Hector Pieterson Museum. The walk  did not only remind people about being active. However it reminded the participants about our history as a nation.

This walk is part of the government strategic frame work aimed at encouraging citizens to constantly develop a habit of leading an active life-style at a young age, through participation in sporting activities. More so, its purpose is that South Africans need to be more physically active as part of their culture, and that daily sport and recreational interactions on an equal basis, build social cohesion and common understanding.  Minister of Sports Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa reminded the participants about the importance of keeping fit especially through such trying times.
