A MYSTERIOUS DISEASE IN THE WORLD: WHY COUNTRIES THAT RESPONDED TO COVID-19 MEASURES REPORTED MORE CASES AND DEATHS THAN THOSE THAT DID NOT IN AFRICA

By Dr Eric Niyitunga

COVID-19 a disease that attacks lungs and makes the patient suffer from pneumonia emerged late last year 2019 in china, Wuhan City, Hubei Province. By the year 2020, the disease had traversed the whole world starting with Europe and ending in Africa. The first case of COVID-19 was reported this year on 24th February in Egypt brought by travelers who were returning from hotspots in Asia, Europe and the United States.

Terrified by the diseases, countries in Africa started taking serious measures to curb the spread of the disease. The African Union and the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention organised an emergency Ministerial meeting on COVID-19. In this meeting, it was agreed that precaution measures should be taken as to prevent the spread of the disease in Africa. Measures like social distancing, wearing of masks, lockdowns, using of sanitizers among others were adopted into law.

These measures became harsh and anyone who failed to comply was charged.
Scholars and politicians called Coronavirus 2019, or COVID-19. The reason behind COVID-19 is the fact that the disease was discovered in 2019. The root cause of the disease is still debatable. Some scientists trace the origin of the virus from the Huanan seafood market in Wuhan, China. It is said that the virus is transmitted from animal to human and can spread from human to human. This spread is done very fast to the extent that millions of humans can be infected in a day. However, during the restrictions rules in Africa, it has been noted that people still are infected, and the figures of infected people grew up exponentially. However, the disease as seen at the ground present dilemmas and mystery. For example, countries that applied the restrictions measures received high figures of infected cases and deaths. Those countries that have refused to apply restrictions measures have had less infection cases and deaths.

This therefore poses many troubling questions whether countries that have refused to apply those measures are experiencing many cases of people getting infected and deaths as well but fail to disclose them to the media. This would mean that if the disease is as deadly as it is presented in the Western media, those countries that refused to apply restrictions measures would face mass graves and cases. However, that was not the case countries that refused to apply those measures actually reported less cases of infected people and deaths. In Africa Burundi and Tanzania refused to comply with the universal restrictions and called COVID-19 a western propaganda between China and the West with the intention to re-colonise Africa. Also during the political campaigns, Malawi as well ignored the measures and continued with the campaigns. This means that in these countries COVID-19 was not an issue of concern that would require much attention form the government and stop every activity.

In Burundi, the government continued its own business as usual claiming to be independent and free from colonial bondage. Business and activities continued as usual on a daily basis. Churches, markets and public gathering continued without any interruptions. The western agents at first were seen trying to use the COVID-19 to threaten the political campaigns and election process, hence western media was echoed saying that Burundi should stop the campaigns and adhere to COVID-19 measures. However, the government rubbished COVID-19 and continued the elections and political campaigns. Moreover, the government played its diplomacy by publicly announcing suspension of all flights in and out of the country to prevent the spread of the COVID-19.

This was of course so because there was no flight moving because of international ban around the world. This also looked as a contraction because the then regime has rubbished COVID-19 to be a western propaganda. However, the borders into the country remained open and people were required not to visit neighbouring states.

The country moved on with its political campaigns that put people together for over a month and yet there was not outbreak of severe and serious COVID-19 cases that were reported. However, due to interference of the western agents in the political campaigns, the then regime decided to kick out World Health Organisation workers. The organisation also was accused of compelling hospitals to report fake and cooked figures of the infected people and deaths so that the government could be scared of a mysterious disease. Furthermore, the organisation was also accused of using COVID-19 to advance colonial agenda; hence, the solution was to get rid of colonial agenda by kicking the organisation out of Burundi territory. According to Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “only 191 confirmed cases of people infected of COVID-19 with only 1 death case and others recovering”. However, healthcare workers and experts have raised concerns about its spread in the East African nation of 11 million people.

Election preview: Burundi braces for divisive vote. Photograph taken on 19 May 2020.

As the photograph shows, people are mingling together very closely and none among the people is having masks or has sanitized their hands. When the president of Burundi died after the general elections have taken place, many westernized social media on the continents and civil society organisations who serve as the agents of the west to advance colonialism declared the president has succumbed on COVID-19. I found this declaration hogwash and baseless given that a patient of COVID-19 cannot die in less than three days. It has never happened since the eruption of COVID-19 last year to date. The other facts that negate the declaration is that none of his family members or bodyguards was declared COVID-19. When his wife was flown to Kenya for medical treatment the media carrying the W3st mandate declared her a COVID-19 patient, but a few hours some of these medias withdrew their statements. Example is Citizen TV in Kenya which quickly declared the former first lady a COVID-19 patient, after 24 hours the same media withdrew its statement and apologized to the population.

During the political campaigns in Burundi which were done without observing any COVID-19 rules, It was fearful such that I expected the country to witness mass graves caused by heavy COVID-19 infections cases resulting from the failure to observe COVID-19 rules during the political campaigns. However, till to date Burundi had reported only one death case who was suffering from Cancer and HIV AIDS but health officials mistakenly said the patient succumbed to COVID-19.
The other example which shows COVID-19 to be a mystery and else colonial machinery that advances a colonial agenda is the political campaigns in Malawi. Below is a photograph showing people of Malawi mingling freely without any use of COVID-19 rules. The elections took place when the virus was heating terribly in the media and social medias platforms.

Malawi Politicians Ignore COVID-19 Measures for Elections. Photograph take in May 19, 2020.

The above photograph shows very clearly that Malawi as well had political campaigns and the politicians ignored COVID-19 rules, and yet there was no outbreak of mass deaths and infected by COVID-19 reported in general elections aftermath in the country. Some western agents were echoed accusing Burundi of suppressing media not to report the cases. However, this is a fatal lie and mistake because even in Malawi there is no report shows a high level of cases of the outbreak of the disease, yet COVID-19 were violated in the favour of political elections.

Does that mean that Malawi is an oppressive regime that denies the media its own freedom? I think what should be understood is what kind of freedom and whose freedom is being spoken of. This freedom must belong to the west and its interest and anybody perceived not allowing its agenda to move, is labeled violating human rights, and because Africans are still mentally colonised they respond quickly to the force allegations.

The other third example Tanzania under the presidency of Magufuli. His government publicly rubbished COVID-19 and declared its territory free of the pandemic. A google quick search reports on Tanzania only “509 cases of infected people, with 183 recovered cases and 21 death cases”. The president declared that “God will save Tanzania from Covid-19, and he accused of colonialists and their agents in the country trying to use the virus to distract the country from achieving its economic goals”. Elisha Osati, the director of the state medical association said that “hospitals were operating as normal and that the majority of coronavirus inpatients were suffering from mild symptoms”. The government also accused the some of its health officials of delivering wrong and incorrect figures that exaggerated the COVID-19 crisis in the country.

The government ridiculed the strict measures neighboring countries have imposed to fight the pandemic. This means that while Tanzania was not responding to the colonialists, its neighboring states were responding by putting nonsensical restriction measures. For example, the government rubbished and dismissed a United States (US) embassy warning that hospitals in Dar es Salaam were “overwhelmed and that the chances of contracting the virus was extremely high”. This statement was later dismissed by the regime calling it a propaganda that lacks facts.

The government officials mentioned the risk of starvation and poverty brought by COVID-19 measures including lockdowns impacts on political and economic stability. The head of the state President Magufuli was echoed urging Christians to congregate at churches and celebrate their Easter festival without fear of COVID-19 and without any of its measures being applied. He also urged the entire public and Muslims believers to continue their usual business and congregate in their mosques, stating the COVID-19 could not survive in the bodies of the faithful. The regional commission of Dar es Salaam also urged citizens in the capital city to self-quarantine and ‘get out and work’. The entire government imposed legal measures against anyone heard spreading wrong information about the COVID-19 emanating from the colonialists. This led to severe surveillance on media to curb propaganda that would jeopardise the country and take it back to the colonialists.

A number of crackdowns with harsh sanctions imposed on media coverage were established and allegations of many journalists who were heard to propagate Western agenda were arrested.
At the moment, Tanzania is undergoing the same political campaigns as were Burundi and Malawi. These political campaigns make people to intermingle and interact freely without any use of masks or sanitizers. As argued earlier, the together with Burundi, the governments called COVID-19 a western propaganda which has no proof or base. The disease is not that terrific than Ebola, Malaria, Cancer to name a few that kill millions of people in Africa and the whole world, and yet the western media is silent. Below are two photographs showing political campaigns going on in Tanzania without any use of the COVID-19 rules being adhered to.

Propagandists may say that there reason that made people in Burundi and Malawi not to get infected by COVID-19 were strong enough and healthy. However, the case of Tanzania will prove whether this disease is real and terrible as portrayed in the Western media, and also whether the propagandists claim is valid. It is vital to note that I am not saying Tanzania population are not health and strong enough, its just opening a debate that may help us understand that actually COVID-19 was and is a mystery, and is not terrific as it is portrayed in western media. As I waited for 21 days after the Burundi’s of political campaigns to see mass graves and mass infected people, the same is with Tanzania, I am waiting to see if the number of deaths and infected people will rise. That means, 21 days after the 28th October general elections, we must expect mass graves and mass infected people in Tanzania to prove whether COVID-19 is real or mystery.

Those are factors that none either a politician, academic or medical doctor can deny.  This is because the most basic measure to reduce the spread of COVID-19 or to prevent infection is to follow hygiene rules, which involves washing hands with sanitizers. It is believed that washing of the hands and wearing of the masks slow the spread of COVID-19 in societies. It is also argued that societies that have the habit of washing hands and pay attention to the general hygiene rules get less infections and death cases. On the contrary, as shown in the cases of Burundi, Malawi and Tanzania, that reported less cases of COVID-19 in their territories, countries that applied lockdowns and COVID-19 measures suffered a lot of deaths and many people got infected cases. This raises two critical questions whether those figures reported in these countries that applied COVID-19 measures were cooked or correct. It also makes one think that if the disease existed why could those measures fail to slow the spread of it leading to many deaths cases as reported in the statistics, as opposed to Burundi and Tanzania, which did not apply any of those measures very minimum cases.

The above photographs show us two kinds of leaders in Africa that have emerged during this COVID. The first photographs shows presidents of Burundi and Tanzania marching together in Kigoma where they had met to discuss bilateral trade relations. As it presented none of them is wearing masks because they discovered that COVID-19 is a mystery and a propaganda of the west. One can easily say that these two countries are independent, and are not subject to the dictations of the west. The second picture is Presidents Museveni meeting with fellow president of Tanzania. It is obvious that the photographs portrays two different nations. One is a subject of colonialists and the other is independent far from western subjections as far as COVID-19 is concerned.

In conclusion, the reason that made countries that responded to COVID-19 measures report more cases and deaths than those that did not in Africa is no other than lack of political and economic independence. While the COVID-19 was created as a biological weapon to advance western agenda, its impacts were not as they were presented in the media. It has remained a mystery to many and after all it is not a severe as malaria, Ebola and cancer cases in Africa. African countries still showed their willingness to remain at the mercy of the colonialists to be dictated and directed on how to do things. It would not shock me if the west can put harsh measures on Burundi and Tanzania when it comes to international travelling. It would not also surprise me seeing fellow African countries welcoming those measures to please the colonialists and undermine their fellow Africans. This is indeed a revelation of mentally colonised people and a mental colonised mind is terrible and cruel than colonialism.
