What is Your Favourite Moment In African History?

My Favourite moment in Africa is when my country gained independence through people like Patrice Lumumba.

What Makes You An African?

Knowing that I am Zulu and being proud of my home language. Also being proud ngobuntu bethu, which is to say, being proud of our ‘being’ as Africans.

Who is your favourite African icon?

Thabo Mbeki because he is an intelligent individual and in my personal opinion I think he is one of the best presidents we have had in the country.

Are You Proud To be African and Why?

I am proud to be an African because in this continent we usually have a unique set of values that we follow. We also have our own culture as Africans, and also we live like a community. You know in precolonial times we didn’t have boundaries that would be found during colonialism.

How can we make Africa better?

It is literally as simple as doing away with this obsession that we have with everything that is Western. It’s a typical argument, but it is something that seems difficult to do away with. So if we want to progress, we need to start embracing our own style and catch up.
