Dr Essop Pahad: "An Early Anc Elective Conference Won't Work"

During the course of the week, we saw many headlines that were dominated by the Governing party, the ANC. The most notable of these headlines was that of  the #OccupyLuthuliHouse. After much commentary had been made on this event, we decided to go to our exclusive video interview with Dr. Essop Pahad to share his thoughts on some of the reasons that this #OccupyLuthuliHouse had happened. We touched on aspects such as the proposed early elective conference and this is what Dr. Pahad had to say:

Amongst others, one of the issues that Dr. Pahad mentioned as a problem that needed to be solved, was the issue of factionalism within the ruling party. Dr. Pahad went to explain how the historical role of the SACP was that of the conscious as well as the brains trust or the ANC, but however, that since Polokwane in 1997, the SACP had found itself as part of the problem as opposed to the solution. He mentioned how the first ANC consultative conference in Mogorogo, Tanzania that was held in 1969, had seen the SACP help the ANC solve some of the issues it was experiencing back then.
